2017 Super High Roller Bowl Information: Player List, Dates, Fees, Prize Pool

Cliff S, May 19, 2017 05:07 UTC

Fifty-five of the fifty-six players in the 2017 Super High Roller Bowl have been released. The Super High Roller Bowl begins in 10 days and runs from May 28 to June 1.

For those who need a refresher, the Super High Roller Bowl is a high-stakes poker tournament that takes place each year at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. 888poker is the sponsor of the event, which draws dozens of high rollers each year.

$300,000 Buy-In Fee

To enter the Super High Roller Bowl, you must pay an entry fee of $300,000 — or have a corporate sponsor bankroll you for the same amount. The 1st place winner receives $6,000,000, which is up $1 million from 2016 winner Rainier Kempe won last year.

Poker Central signed a deal with NBC Sports to broadcast the 2017 event. The final table ends on June 1, the same day that the World Series of Poker begins. Because it is a high dollar event which draws top players, the Super High Roller Bowl is now seen as a lead-in to the WSOP’s six-week schedule of events.

56 Entries in the 2017 Event

This year’s event had the entries capped at 56. Back in February 2017, the first 35 seats sold out in a single day. 54 players applied for the 35 seats, so Aria had a lottery to determine which 35 players receive a seat in the tournament.

Aria announced another 20 seats for the event in April. That leaves on final mystery guest, a celebrity player who is set to be announced closer to the beginning of the Super High Roller Bowl.

Former Champs Rainer Kampe and Brian Rast Return

Rainer Kempe is back to defend his title this year. Brian Rast, who won the inaugural Super High Roller Bowl in 2015, is also returning to try to make it two wins in three years.

The remaining list of top money winners over the past two SHRB events return: Scott Seiver, Fedor Holz, Erik Seidel, Connor Drinan, David Peters, and Tom Marchese all return for another shot at the first prize.

Mercier, Hellmuth, Negreanu, Tony G

Big names from the poker world are also making an appearance, including Phil Hellmuth, Jason Mercier, Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari, Bill Perkins, and Dan Colman. The second list of 20 players included names like Bobby Baldwin, Cary Katz, Dan Shak, Dan Smith, Dan Perper, Giuseppe Iadisernia, Jason Koon, John Morgan, Justin Bonomo, Lauren Roberts, Leon Tsoukernik, Tony Gouga (“Tony G”), and Zach Hyman.

Super High Roller Bowl Full List of Players

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart is a competitor this year. The full list of Super High Roller Bowl players can be found by clicking the link. The final place is listed as “Anonymous Businessman”.

The 2017 payouts include money for the top seven players. The full prize pool is $16.8 million, making the Super High Roller Bowl the second highest prize pool in the wider World Series of Poker set of events. The payouts for the prize winners are listed below.

  • $6.0 Million – 1st Place
  • $3.6 Million – 2nd Place
  • $2.4 Million – 3rd Place
  • $1.8 Million – 4th Place
  • $1.4 Million – 5th Place
  • $1.0 Million – 6th Place
  • $600 Thousand – 7th Place

Though CBS broadcast the event last year, NBC Sports and the Poker Channel agreed to share future rights for 2017 and beyond. Poker Central decided to end its live stream of the Super High Roller Bowl, but instead is focusing on on-demand broadcasts.

Those wanting to stream the event live should go to NBCSports.com for desktop computers and download the NBC Sports app for smartphones and tablet computers.
